Kalpesh Mehta

Biography

Kalpesh “Kal” Mehta is a litigation attorney at Kluger, Kaplan, Silverman, Katzen & Levine, P.L., focusing his practice on complex commercial, real estate, and probate litigation, with an emphasis on contractual and business disputes.  Serving a diverse client base, Kal represents and advises clients in state and all federal courts across Florida on matters involving, among other things, breach of contract, business torts, and fraud.

Kal has extensive experience taking and defending depositions, working with expert and fact witnesses, and counseling clients on the constantly changing legal landscape.  A well-rounded litigator, Kal has developed a wealth of experience in all phases of litigation throughout Florida, and has further prevailed on summary judgment in both federal and state courts.

Prior to joining Kluger Kaplan, Kal served as a business litigation attorney at an international law firm in Miami, focusing on complex commercial litigation, insurance litigation, and real estate disputes.  Kal also previously served as a judicial extern for the Honorable Jonathan Goodman of the U.S. District Court for the Southern District of Florida.

Representative Experience:

• Complex Commercial Litigation: Represented a limited liability company in an eight-figure dispute involving the prosecution of claims for breach of contract, fraudulent inducement, and fraud, resulting in significant discovery and monetary sanctions against several Defendants and subsequent striking of all Defendants’ pleadings in complex business court.
• Insurance Litigation: Represented multiple insurance companies in dozens of residential and commercial insurance disputes, resulting in several summary judgments awarded in both state and federal courts.
• Real Estate Litigation: Represented landlords and tenants in both commercial and residential real estate disputes, in both the prosecution and defense of claims under Chapter 83, Florida Statutes.

In all representation, Kal proactively develops winning litigation strategies by identifying potential leverage and custom tailoring his approach based upon the client’s specific needs or goals.  Driven by obtaining positive outcomes for his clients, Kal is adept at effectively crafting and implementing creative solutions to both novel and complex legal challenges.
