Kluger Kaplan and PediStat, a local provider of home medical equipment for children, sponsored a day with the Miami Marlins for six children who rely on medical equipment to breathe or eat. The children enjoyed a day at the ballpark, along with their parents, siblings, and caretakers as guests of the Marlins BallPark Buddies Foundation. During the 3rd inning, Billy The Marlin made a special appearance to help our staff and kids cheer the Marlins on to victory.
Deborah S. Chames, Esq., Of Counsel at Kluger Kaplan, heard about the event, and offered to be a sponsor. “It is clear that PediStat realized these families need a break from the day-to-day challenges they usually face. What child wouldn’t want to attend a ballgame? I practice family law so this really touched my heart, seeing families united together during a difficult time and creating a happy memory” she added.
Alison Garfinkel, RN BSN Director of Clinical Services at PediStat, said “the evening was so special because it was like a reunion of families with a special bond between them. For example, one of the most touching moments,” she added, “was when Brian Puente and Stephanie Cortijo compared their tracheostomy sites while standing on the field of the Miami Marlins.”
