Happy New Year from Kluger Kaplan

By December 31, 2012

I was awake at 4:58 this morning, the result of a brighter than usual light coming from my the alarm on the side of my bed.  Maybe it was a signal because I immediately started to compose my thoughts for this message. Regardless of where I wandered, I kept  coming back to the idea of “GRATITUDE,” which can best be defined by either thankfulness, gratefulness, or appreciation.  It is a feeling or attitude in acknowledgment of a benefit that one has received or will receive. This year in particular deserves our gratitude.

The end of the year is upon us and a new one is about to begin. We need to look back and reflect to realize how fortunate we all are in order to start 2103 with the same vigor and happiness we started 2012.  The Kluger Kaplan family has grown, children were born, we had engagements, and old friends rejoined us.  Our lawyers achieved many new superlatives and our clients are more satisfied than ever. It was heartwarming to see so many happy faces at our year-end party.  The collegiality was overwhelming.

Alan and I have been practicing together for over 25 years.  Many of the partners have been together for almost 20 years, hardly anyone leaves us and if they do it is after many great years and for perceived greener pastures.  The firm is no longer an infant and has matured into a clear leader in the legal community, respected by opposing counsel and our colleagues.  The judges we practice before repeatedly share with us how much they enjoy working with the lawyers in our firm. The last time I looked we all have a smile on our faces when we come to work and when we leave. This is why we should all be thankful, grateful and appreciative.

On a personal note, thank you for a wonderful year and the fuel to be excited about next year. I wish you and your families a very happy and healthy New Year.
