Q: Ashley, your journey into family law seems both purposeful and rewarding. What drew you to this field?
A: Family law, for me, represents the convergence of legal advocacy and human connection. I’ve always been drawn to helping individuals. Family law offers a unique opportunity to do just that, where I can help navigate complex situations with empathy and also applying my understanding of the law. Whether it’s guiding clients through divorce proceedings or facilitating child custody arrangements, every case presents a chance to make an impact in people’s lives. I love that about my work.
Q: Your emphasis on building relationships as a cornerstone of your practice is noteworthy. How do you integrate this philosophy into your daily work?
A: At the heart of effective representation lies the ability to truly understand your clients’ needs and concerns. For me, this begins with active listening and genuine empathy. By fostering trust and open communication, I aim to create a supportive environment where clients feel empowered and heard throughout the legal process. It’s about more than just delivering legal solutions; it’s about being a reliable ally during what can be an emotionally turbulent period.
Q: With your recent appointment to partner, can you speak to the role Kluger Kaplan played in shaping your career?
A: Absolutely. I’ve been fortunate to have had mentors who not only imparted invaluable legal knowledge but also instilled in me the importance of integrity, diligence, and compassion in my practice. Under the mentorship of Alan Kluger and Jason Marks throughout the last eight years, I’ve honed my legal skills and developed a deep understanding of how to build strong client relationships. They both approach law with integrity and empathy, and that has shaped my own ethos.
Q: Your commitment to tailoring strategies to individual client needs is evident. How do you approach crafting personalized solutions in the realm of family law?
A: Every family is unique, and so too are their legal needs and concerns. I approach each case with a comprehensive understanding of my clients’ circumstances, taking the time to listen to their objectives and concerns. From there, I work collaboratively with them to develop tailored strategies while prioritizing their long-term interests. It’s a meticulous process, but one that ensures my clients feel heard, supported, and empowered every step of the way.
Q: Lastly, what advice would you offer to aspiring family law attorneys looking to make an impact in the field?
A: My advice is twofold: cultivate your technical legal skills, but never lose sight of the human element inherent in client service and – particularly – in family law. By approaching your practice with empathy, integrity, and a genuine desire to effect positive change, you’ll excel as an attorney and make a meaningful difference in the lives of your clients. I also encourage aspiring attorneys to seek out mentors who can provide guidance, support, and inspiration as they navigate their own legal journey. Mentorship isn’t just about learning the ropes of the profession, it’s about fostering a mindset of continuous growth and learning.
