Firm names 2026-27 H.T. Smith Legal Studies Scholarship recipient and welcomes new and returning attorneys to its growing team
MIAMI, FL – October 1, 2026 – Kluger, Kaplan, Silverman, Katzen & Levine, P.L., a premier South Florida litigation and appellate firm, is continuing its investment in the next generation of legal talent with the selection of Tomas Carmona as the 2026 recipient of the H.T. Smith Legal Studies Scholarship, while welcoming two scholarship program alumni full time, and two new attorneys to the firm’s growing litigation team.
Carmona, a J.D. candidate at the University of Miami School of Law, joins a growing group of law students and attorneys supported through the firm’s H.T. Smith Legal Studies Scholarship, established in 2021. The program provides eligible Florida law students with $15,000 in financial assistance, a summer clerkship and a pathway to join the firm as an associate following graduation and Bar admission.
Carmona is a second-year law student at the University of Miami School of Law, where he has received the CALI Excellence for the Future Award for Business Associations and the Dean’s Merit Scholarship, among others. He serves as Vice President of the Christian Legal Society and is active in several student organizations. He currently works as a law clerk at Wydler Law in Coral Gables, supporting civil rights defense litigation through research and drafting, and is fluent in Spanish.
“Investing in young attorneys has always been an important part of who we are as a firm,” said Alan J. Kluger, Managing Partner at Kluger Kaplan. “The H.T. Smith Scholarship allows us to identify talented students early, provide meaningful experience and help create a pathway into the profession. Tomas is an impressive young lawyer, and we are excited to welcome him to the program.”
The firm is also pleased to welcome back Taiye Ajayi, the 2025-26 scholarship recipient, who will join Kluger Kaplan as an associate following her graduation from the University of Miami School of Law and admission to the Florida Bar. She has earned CALI Awards in Legal Communication and Research and gained experience through roles with Ben Crump Law and the University of Miami’s Children & Youth Law Clinic.
Manoach Deliscar, the firm’s 2024 scholarship recipient, has already joined Kluger Kaplan as an associate after completing the firm’s summer program. He brings experience across civil, medical and immigration-related matters, with prior roles at Cole, Scott & Kissane and other firms. He earned his J.D. from the University of Florida Levin College of Law and is fluent in Haitian Creole.
In addition to its scholarship program, the firm has expanded its litigation bench with the addition of Roselvin S. Edelman as Of Counsel and Patrick C. Furman as an Associate.
Edelman focuses her practice on trusts and estates, guardianship and complex commercial disputes, with more than 15 years of experience representing individuals, fiduciaries and corporate clients. She previously served as a shareholder at Buchanan Ingersoll & Rooney and a partner at Harper Meyer, handling sophisticated disputes and advising on estate and trust matters.
Furman focuses on civil and commercial litigation, representing clients in business disputes, fraud matters and other complex cases. He previously practiced at Barakat + Bossa and gained federal court experience through judicial externships in the Southern District of Florida.
The additions build on Kluger Kaplan’s continued growth across its core litigation practices, including commercial litigation, financial fraud, probate, guardianship and other high-stakes disputes.
“Our growth is intentional,” added Abbey Kaplan, Founding Partner at Kluger Kaplan. “We are focused on bringing together talented attorneys who can contribute meaningfully to our clients and to the strength of our litigation practices. Whether through our scholarship program or later in their careers, we look for strong legal ability, sound judgment and a commitment to excellence.”
The H.T. Smith Legal Studies Scholarship is open to eligible students entering their second year of law school at select Florida universities and recognizes academic achievement, leadership and a demonstrated commitment to civic service.
